Essentially Discos Mobile is DJ Richard Porter. I am not a Disco Agent or a Mobile Disco Booking Service or anyone other than the Mobile Disco you would be booking for your event and party. From Start to finish you deal with me and me alone and I am here to serve your every need and want.

I have been a DJ of a multitude of different events over the last 15 years and when it comes to having experience in providing Mobile Disco Hire, I am a DJ who frequently works at least 2 private functions and parties every week but usually 4 parties weekly and do this on a full time basis and you are my employer. What should come with a Professional DJ and my work ethics.

  • Work Attire - I am a DJ that prides myself on my appearance. An old Mobile DJ once said to me the difference between a good DJ and a Great DJ is a tie. I partially agree with this but do think there is much more to being a Great DJ than just a tie but I follow the rule of I am there to do a Job and must be smart which usually means I wear a Suit and a Tie unless I am working with Children in which case I wear casual wear.
  •  DJ Ethics - I work on the basis I am paid to do a Job and will do the job to your exact instructions. For example, if you want to plan the events music then that’s what you get. If you just want to make sure everyone is dancing at your party and incorporate a few of your favourite songs into the event then that’s exactly what I will do. It’s your event and you can ask for anything and your every wish is my command.
  •  Music Styles - I will always offer my advice from experience, but it’s entirely up to you what music you want to get your guests to dance. Quite often I am told, “well we love the 70′s or 80′s or the 90′s Old Skool music but most of our friends and family don’t”. We can add your favourite music into the latter part of the event once everyone is having a good time with the “normal” music. Later, they will dance to pretty much anything as long as they are in a good mood and motivated to have a good time. People make the Party and the DJ just helps them along by playing the right music styles and core songs from the music eras. Another thing you have to remember, which quite often people forget, it’s your party, you’re paying for it and you can have whatever you want. I do, however, try and avoid being a “cheesy” DJ except for when I am at Children’s and Kids parties because I find there is no enjoyment factor and no challenge. I am a DJ who wants to play quality music from the last 5 decades (guided by you) and should have no need to resort to the Conga or Birdie Song etc. to get people dancing.
  • Prices - My prices are dictated by the cost of living and the marketplace I am in. I am not your “Cheap” DJ but in the same respect I am not overpriced either. I am just of the opinion you pay for what you get every single DJ has; Different Equipment, Plays Different Music, Wears Different Clothes, Has a Different Attitude, Service Offered and Different Work Ethics. I try to set myself above the rest with everything I provide without making my prices “expensive”.   • Insurance - Namely Public Liability, I am covered for 10 Million pounds of damages to a person or the venue so should the worst happen I have that covered.
  • Portable Appliance Testing (PAT Testing) - Portable Mobile Disco Equipment is like any other equipment and needs to be tested by a professional to confirm safety standards are met and pre-empt any electrical faults before they happen. This is done every 12 months.
  • Fully legally downloaded music - Quite simply, without recording artists all DJs would be out of work so every single music track I own I have purchased on either CD or mp3 formats to help pay and support yesterdays, today’s and future music to be played at Mobile Discos. Another good reason to purchase legally downloaded music is it sounds better. Pirated music is of a low quality standard due to it being downloaded over and over again which reduces music quality and your pleasure.

 

DJs go by many different terms and names such as Mobile Disco, Mobile DJ, Disc Jockey & they all mean the same thing and not to be confused between one and another. Also be cautious of the term Wedding Specialist or Wedding DJ some DJs I have to admit only do weddings and they are great they really know their marketplace and do a fantastic job entertaining parties. Others try and call themselves a Wedding Specialist and really don’t have a clue about what this means or have the experience to show for it. They just know a wedding commands more money than a Birthday Party for instance. I charge the same flat rate for every function however weddings are usually slightly more costly due to the increased hours work and a pre-event meet up etc and as you can see from my facebook updates my main event types are Wedding Discos and Christening Entertainment.
